It's been a while since I wrote here last time, but unfortunately I can't make writing here my only job, it's just a place for expressing my emotions that I've got in the places I've been to.
This time I'm eager to share with you one very beautiful place right down the hill of Cortona. It's called Podere Giogo. I've come there with my friends to visit one amazing villa in the most prestigious location. I could compare that to Rublevka near Moscow. I must admit that even after almost a month I'm still really impressed. The view, the villa itself, the owner - everything is so special.
The reason why I've come up with the idea of visiting it, was actually the fact that one very nice american couple decided to sell their amazing villa. And so guys invited me to give a look at it. Of course, this one was a very desirable property, so it could have been sold soon and there wouldn't have been a possibility for me to explore one of the new and yet unknown sides of life in Cortona and it's surroundings.
This american couple bought the land and the house in the mid 90's and renovated it from inside and quite a bit from outside - they've made a very beautiful swimming pool faced with murano mosaic pieces. The color of the water, because of this, is deep turquoise, so during a hot day there's I guess no other desire than to dive into it.
The other thing that captivated me, was three or even more tables standing in different parts of the territory. After I started imagining how romantic it could be to have a dinner at one of them, after I started putting on a table different local dishes (in my mind, of course), poring wine, I turned around and noticed another table - standing maybe even in a more picturesque place. Despite being outside of the town, there is still a great variety of the ways how you could spend your free time there.
We visited the villa from inside which design is very traditionally tuscan, yet comfortable and with everything you need. I started to want to stay there forever even more... Started to realize that living in Tuscany is great not only during hot spring-summer period, but also in winter, when the wind is blowing and the rain is tapping steadily on each window of the house. You sit near a fireplace, also with a glass of wine and peccorino cheese. And you are not in a hurry, you don't need to go anywhere. Calmness, just you, your beloved ones, Syrah wine and fire. What would you wish more?
Coming back outside of the villa and coming back to the summer - I notice myself thinking of wha I could do living there... Actually, many things. I could read a book on a sunset, gazing at a beautiful Val di Chiana, or swimming during a hot day, or sunbathing and listening to the birds singing and the water falling from a little fountain on a wall of a pool. In the morning - what could be better than jogging there... In the evening I could invite the friends for a cup of coffee or... better for a glass of local Syrah or what's even more - for an amazing lunch or dinner, laughing, breathing fresh air, and enjoying this super-unique location...
Well, it would be better for me to stop my flight of fancy, because I'm afraid how far it could bring me. Anyway, I have always been sure that YOU NEED TO BELIEVE and don't stop dreaming, never. Of course, I don't mean dreaming the way we do it lying on a sofa and doing nothing. I mean active dreaming. That kind of dreaming when you never stop your way to this desire. So that in one moment of your life you just wake up and realize that everything was not for nothing. That you've reached your dream because you've never stopped thinking about it and working for it. Maybe it's kind of too much romantic, but I'm definitely sure in it. Life showes that.
PS I'm very thankful to Ilena and Igor, working in an agency of VIP-property in Tuscany - italianproperty.it - for such an amazing trip to this beautiful villa. They have a lot of places in their list and I can't wait to see others. Who knows, maybe someday I could live in one of them ;)
